Rachel Brook, Conductor

Rachel is the proud conductor of Shir Chadash: The Brooklyn Jewish Community Chorus, now celebrating it’s 15th year of performing Jewish Choral music in the wonderful borough she calls home. She has also served as Conductor for the Westchester chapter of HaZamir: The International Jewish High School Choir. In addition to her work as a conductor, Rachel has been a service leader and educator at synagogues throughout the New York City area, including Ansche Chesed, West End Synagogue, Kolot Chayeinu, Park Slope Jewish Center, and Temple Israel New Rochelle. In addition to her work in New York, Rachel has taught and led services at synagogues throughout New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C., Florida, and at the Conservative Yeshiva in Jerusalem.  She currently serves as Music Educator for Youth and Family at B’nai Jeshrun in Manhattan. As a performer, Rachel has sung opera and concert roles throughout the U.S., Italy, and Bulgaria.

            Rachel received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music and her Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy with Distinction from Westminster Choir College of Rider University. Rachel is in her 4th year of cantorial studies at the H.L. Miller Cantorial School of The Jewish Theological Seminary of America.
